PHYSICAL EDUCATION

SPORT P

E lessons this half term have turned their attentions towards Sports Day on July 19th

at Sutcliffe

Park Athletics Track. Students have been working on all the different athletic disciplines in lessons, with a clear focus on getting technique right for the big day. Even in lessons, we have had students getting super close to setting new school records, so you can expect to see the record book re-written on 19th July!

The school sports fixtures are not finished just yet either, with the Year 7 and 8 Greenwich Cricket Competition taking place next Tuesday 3 July at Blackheath Cricket Club. Good luck to both of our teams who are involved!

Lastly, our Year 7 Rugby team (pictured top right) turn their hand to Rugby Sevens on Thursday 28th

July with a

competition at Charlton Park Rugby Club. Good luck again to both teams involved. It is fantastic that we are now getting multiple sides competing at events, it shows the outstanding attitude and focus our students are showing to putting GFS Sport on the map!

ROUND-UP HOUSE SPORT F

ootball, Basketball, Handball and now Cricket!

The final term ends with the

classic bat and ball event to conclude the GFS House Sport competition. Both Year 7 boys and girls have competed to gain positions that would earn them points to climb the leader’s board.

So far, Sancho has taken first place as Year 7 Girls (Sancho) put on a great display to win their last fixture of the competition. GFS now await the winners of the next final fixtures from the senior year groups. Special commendations to all the top runners:

Year 7 Boys Top Runners: Harrison - Kyaan Moukour; Sancho - Lennon Anderson; Nightingale - Dominic Robinson; Waugh - James Jenkins.

Year 7 Girls Top Goal Scorers: Harrison - Kiannah Ekinu; Sancho - Deeyahni Bahra; Nightingale - Jackelyn Lwanga; Waugh - Fumni Ogundokun.

re you a keen runner? Or someone who would like to use their Growth Mind-set and improve

at running? The GFS PE Department are running lunch time running clubs on Tuesday’s and Thursday. Students are invited to come down to the PE Department at the beginning of lunch, get quickly changed and enjoy taking part in a run around the local area, being back in school in plenty of time for their next lesson. Students will get the opportunity to run a variety of routes, and look to improve their running technique and times with a view to representing the school in the Borough Cross Country Championships in October - or representing Greenwich in the London School Games. If you are interested please email Mr Guildford at aguildford@ greenwichfreeschool.co.uk or speak to him directly. Get your running shoes on!
