NEW STAFF at GFS

Mr MacPherson

DUKE OF EDINBURGH AWARD BRONZE & SILVER EXPEDITIONS

D of E A

huge well done to all of GFS Duke of Edinburgh students, who are now in the final stages of their respective Bronze and Silver Awards. The only task now standing between the students and their certificates is to complete the logging of their physical, skill and volunteering hours on the online platform.

Both the Bronze and Silver students successfully completed their assessed expeditions over the last term. Our Year 10 Silver students completed their expedition in Eastbourne, finishing Day 3 with a walk along the famous Seven Sisters to Beachy Head. The Year 9s completed their two day expedition in and around Knockholt, with the highlight being an epic camp fire on the Friday evening, and finishing in super quick time on the Saturday!

Year 10 students can now look forward to being able to complete the Gold Award, at the post 16 provision of their choice, whilst our Year 9s have Silver to look forward to next year! A huge well done to all students who have completed the award this year, and to the staff who have given up their own weekends to make it possible.

If your son or daughter is in Year 8, you can still sign up to start the Bronze Award in September 2018, if you require further information please email the school and ask to speak to Mr Guildford.
