Time to think about personal development

This month’s Business Network theme centres round Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). It is widely understood and acknowledged that CSR activity doesn’t just positively impact charities and communities, it can also have a profound effect on those undertaking the activities – namely a business’s employees – through boosting wellbeing, morale and aiding personal development. Personal development is a buzz


word in the business training world and for good reason. Professionals at all levels and at all stages of career need to continuously develop in order to thrive. Personal development will mean different things to different people but the end results should be the same – the improvement and enhancement of an individual’s skills, outlook


and, ultimately, satisfaction, happiness and success. Naturally, a happy and successful


worker is going to be a real asset to a business, which benefits not only from the professional development and enhanced skills of its employees but also the increased productivity this can bring through additional motivation and sense of loyalty that can be instilled through giving an employee every chance and all the necessary tools to be the best version of themselves they can possibly be – that is in itself an act of CSR. What’s interesting is that the
