What your council does


Newton Abbot Town Council maintains the town hall, museum, town quay, St Leonard’s tower, the war memorial, Victoria Gardens, Golden Lion Square, Vicary’s mill leat at Bradley Lane, footpaths, street furniture and bus shelters. It also provides allotment areas through the Newton Abbot and District Allotments Association, awards grants and issues pavement cafe licenses. Its staff arranges the annual Victorian Evening, Autumn Fayre, town criers’ competition, Remembrance service and parade, Christmas lights switch-on, late-night shopping, lantern parade, mayor’s carol service, town centre classic motorshows, street food events and summer band concerts.


It is a statutory consultee of Teignbridge District Council on planning applications, street naming and numbering and various other services provided by the district council.
