NEWTON’S PLACE AN INSIDE LOOK
THESE could be the views that greet visitors to Newton Abbot’s new community space, Newton’s Place, when it opens its doors next autumn. Exciting artists’ impressions of interior aspirations for £2 million project in the Grade II listed former St Leonard’s Church building in Wolborough Street show a light and airy pastel vision of the planned mix
of community facilities, town museum and town council offices.
The designs are the
handiwork of Leach Studio, a Huddersfield-based team of interpretive designers, specialising in creating and co- producing exhibitions for museums, galleries, heritage sites and visitor attractions whose creative team have
earned a reputation for “creativity, innovation and exceptional high quality.” The views on this page are
from the front entrance looking down towards the Renaissance- carved overmantle from George Templer’s home Sandford Orleigh at the rear, and (below) the reverse view looking back towards the entrance area. (See main story, page 16)
