PARIAS’ NEW LOOK FOR A&E DEPARTMENT
Family-run refurbishment company Parias Commercial Interiors Ltd recently completed an impressive interior overhaul of the accident and emergency department at Milton Keynes Hospital. The Tongwell contractor was
behind the transformation of both aesthetics and function to form a separate Paediatric Entrance and assessment facility at the site. The works commenced with the
dismantling of the existing entrance, partition walls, reception and removal of existing electrical and plumbing services – stripping the area right back to basic. What followed has improved
functionality with a reconstruction of internal walls – creating vital additional consulting rooms, toilet facilities and spacious waiting and play areas. Parias Commercial Interiors Ltd,
who have been based in the Milton Keynes area for over 30 years, worked with the trust’s design team
to apply an adventurous woodland theme throughout – successfully providing children with a space that is less hospital-like in feel. The area is littered with fun
features, from the bright colour scheme to the LED ‘rooflight’, the vinyl wall graphics and the leaf patterns embedded in the flooring. To complete the package, in
affiliation with a local toy company, Parias Commercial Interiors Ltd donated a bulk order of play equipment to the department as the old toys looked worse for wear in their updated surroundings. Project manager Marcus Parias
said: “It’s been a real privilege to work on a project that has been pleasantly challenging and aesthetically adventurous throughout. All due credit must go to the trust and their design team for their outlined ambition to make these spaces appear less like a hospital for younger visitors and our team has delivered that.”
