MEMBERS TEAM UP TO TACKLE NEEDS OF GDPR
Two Chamber members recently collaborated on a project to support small businesses to overcome the challenge of getting their business ready for the GDPR legislation that came into force on 25 May 2018. Both solo business owners, Liam
Mitchell-Dolby, from LMD Design and Rachel Allen, of Rachel Allen Marketing Ltd, felt that their offer was far stronger by combining their web design and marketing experience to fill a gap in the market – to support small businesses with the GDPR legislation changes in a simple and jargon-free way. Liam said: “When Rachel and I
first met at a networking event, we were sure we could pass lots of work on to each other as we have the same target audience but offer different services. But when we started talking about GDPR, we knew we’d have a great offering by combining our experience and we’ve met over 200 businesses in Milton Keynes as a result of the sessions.” The collaboration is formally
known as GDPR MK – a joint venture between LMD Design and Rachel Allen Marketing. As both are business owners, they were able to act quickly and put a programme together tailored to small businesses, create a website (Rachel wrote it and Liam built it), undertake publicity and deliver a series of events across Milton Keynes, allowing them to create brand awareness and meet new businesses within six weeks of meeting. Rachel said: “The GDPR MK
sessions have been a fantastic opportunity for us to raise our profile and meet with local businesses in the area. Through the collaboration, Liam and I attended the Chamber exhibition on 4 May to deliver our session on GDPR for marketing. “We are both very grateful for
the opportunity we’ve been given by the Chamber and look forward to supporting members with their GDPR, marketing and web design needs in future.”
