In the last issue of the Wire we introduced you to our 3 Malawian visitors, and preparations are in full swing ahead of their arrival in Dunblane in September. It is an exciting time for the Partnership and we hope the whole community will get involved and welcome our visitors!

As always, we are in regular communication with the committee in Likhubula sharing news and Partnership updates. We have learned that both Scotland and Malawi have experienced unusual weather over the past few weeks (although only one of us had snow!). It is always good to hear from our friends in Malawi and continue to learn from each other.

Our 25 secondary school Bursars continue to work hard. We receive termly updates with grades and reports which present some interesting results and we will be discussing these with the committee in Likhubula to see how best we can both support the Bursars going forward. Maths exams are challenging in both Dunblane and Likhubula! We are also writing to all Bursars individually with comments, questions and encouragement to continue to work hard and do the Partnership proud.

Lately, we have been having some very useful and insightful conversations around girls education and how we can best support. Some of these discussions are not yet comfortable areas to discuss in Malawian culture and so it has been hugely encouraging to be able to engage in constructive discussions with our Partners and friends.

Although we are a charity, above all else we are a Partnership with both sides benefi ting and learning from each other. We are very proud of this.

Our friendly committee meets roughly every 6 weeks and would love to welcome any enthusiastic new members. Especially with the upcoming visit, this is an exciting time for the Partnership!
