News AFSOY nominations open
Win a trip to the USA with the Amenity Sprayer Operator Awards 2018/19 - now with nominations from businesses and customers
All sprayer operators in the amenity sector have the fantastic chance to win an incredible trip to the USA, by taking part in the Amenity Forum Sprayer Operator of the Year Awards.
The annual AFSOY Awards, run by the Amenity Forum, are sponsored by ICL and Syngenta, in association with BASIS.
Three AFSOY categories seek to identify the best operators in all key areas of amenity spraying, with the overall winner announced at the exciting industry Awards ceremony at BTME in Harrogate.
There are prizes, including tools and training, for all the category winners, plus the overall winner having the choice to visit the educational experience of the GCSAA golf turf show or the GIE Expo amenity show in the US.
The AFSOY Awards seek to recognise best practice in amenity spray application. Past winners have demonstrated the high level of competence and attention to
detail among sprayer operators. They have shown the skills necessary to get the best possible results from every application, and how to achieve it safely with due care for the environment.”
AFSOY provides the opportunity to gain from the experience and to share knowledge and best practice across the industry. Furthermore, businesses and customers can now nominate sprayer operators for the Awards, through the Amenity Forum website.
The categories for the 2018/19 AFSOY Awards are:
• Sports turf using boom sprayer or hand held equipment
• Landscape & Industrial using vehicle mounted equipment
• Landscape & Industrial using hand held equipment
The 2017/18 Awards winner, Nathan Hume of S H Goss Ltd, will be flying to Louisville, Kentucky in October, to visit the Green Industry & Equipment Expo. “Just
taking part in the Awards was a great experience. As with all operations, it’s important to review and appraise what we do and how we can continually improve.”
The AFSOY Awards clearly demonstrate the capability of the amenity industry to professionally deliver accurate spray application, said ICL Landscape & Industrial Business Manager, Mark Pyrah.
“We know that there are many great operators doing a fantastic job every day. The Awards is a way to recognise their skills and to shine a spotlight on their role. Sharing their best practice means that everyone can gain.”
Syngenta Business Manager, Daniel Lightfoot, pointed out that sprayer operators’ skills are key to achieving the most effective results. “It's not awarded for having the newest machine or the latest gadgets ‐ it’s about understanding what needs to be done, and how best to achieve it
