MANAGING YOUR PTA – Raise more with FundEd

Feedback from our subscribers

‘We signed up to FundEd in July 2017 because we were looking for new income generation avenues. As we are opening a new SEN secondary school later this year, we were especially interested in fi nding grants to fund the facilities and equipment required. Since signing up, we have mined FundEd’s extensive grants database to fi nd suitable opportunities to get funding for the required facilities and specialist equipment, which is crucial in ensuring our young people thrive in their education and community. We have applied for numerous grants, and are currently waiting to hear if we’ve been successful. As a Fundraising Manager who is passionate about building strong and long-lasting business relationships where both parties benefi t, I have found FundEd’s information on business partnerships extremely useful. This advice reassures me that I am approaching the business community in the right way, not only when it comes to fundraising, but also when trying to secure work-related opportunities for young people with learning disabilities. I wholeheartedly recommend FundEd to those looking for ways to raise money for their school. The magazine is a great tool when researching new ideas, and reading the success stories of other schools gives you the confi dence needed to try new things. The website is one of the fi rst things I open each day, as there is

always something new to read and digest. As a fundraising resource FundEd defi nitely offers great value for money; it is a valuable tool in the ever-competitive fundraising market.’ Liam Deacy, Fundraising Manager, Dorothy Goodman School, Hinckley, Leicestershire (205 pupils)

In September 2017, subscriber Mel Fane shared her fundraising success with us, having raised £88,500 in a year thanks to FundEd. This paid for a trim trail, playground resurfacing and a wildlife pond, and we’ve been back in touch to fi nd out how things have progressed: ‘We are now concentrating our

efforts on developing a wild, unused area at the back of the school into an eco hub and outside learning area. We have applied to Rampion Wind Farm, an offshore wind farm development, for a grant of £10,000 to fund this. We have been successful in getting through the fi rst round and will know more in June. We’re also waiting to fi nd out whether we’ve been successful with Tesco’s Bags of Help scheme, and we will be applying to Learning Through Landscapes when the next round opens. These funds were found through the FundEd grants database. And the excellent guidance on completing a grant application has already helped us be successful and given us confi dence for the future.’ Mel Fane, PTA Trustee, Our Lady of Lourdes RC School, Brighton, East Sussex (199 pupils)
