Dementia can affect anyone, but it can be a particular problem for older people. So if someone you love is becoming increasingly forgetful – especially if they are over the age of 65 – encourage them to talk to their GP, as they may have the early signs of dementia. Dementia doesn’t just affect memory. It can also lead to

problems with mental sharpness, language, judgement, understanding, mood, movement and even cause difficulties while carrying out daily activities. There are many different types, too – Alzheimer’s disease, for instance, is one type of dementia. The good news is our Unforgettable range includes lots of

products that can help make life easier for those with dementia, as well as those caring for someone living with the condition.

Daytime help The Easy Eating Kit (£32.50 with VAT relief, £39 inc VAT) is for those who are in the mid and late stages of dementia. This dishwasher-safe kit contains a two-handled mug with a drinking lid, a plate with a sloped base and a bowl that helps keep food hot for longer.

Not drinking enough can lead to

dehydration, but those with dementia may find it difficult to remember to drink regularly. The Ulla Drinking Reminder (£19.99) is a simple solution. Pop it around any bottle, glass or mug and it will blink brightly to draw their attention and encourage them to drink regularly.

Sleep tight If your loved one doesn’t find it easy to relax into sleep – or if they’re bed bound and need some calming visual or audio stimulation – our Shining Star Cube (£18.99) can help soothe restlessness and insomnia. It plays a range of lullaby and

nature sounds and turns the ceiling into a night sky scene – all of which provide calming stimulation to help relieve stress.

Handy references Our Unforgettable range also includes handbooks that could prove invaluable if you’re caring for someone with dementia. A Family Guide to Dementia (£7.99) is designed to help with every aspect of daily life, while Staying Out of Hospital (£4.99) reveals how to keep your loved one in the best of health and reduce their risk of being admitted to hospital. If someone in your family is

affected by dementia and you’re feeling overwhelmed, there’s help available. Try calling Dementia UK’s helpline on 0800 888 6678 orread more about dementia on the charity’s website (dementiauk.org).
