The closing night benefit’s funds are earmarked for the AIDS/Life Cycle organization and The Trevor Project is also involved in the event. Tarley shared a little about what they do and how they’re involved. “A portion of all closing night sales will benefit AIDS/LifeCycle (
aidslifecycle.org), which raises awareness, provides a life-affirming experience for people with HIV/AIDS and funds the work of the Los Angeles LGBT Center that provides free medical care, testing and AIDS prevention services.” He continued, “Opening night features a photo art raffle benefiting The Trevor Project (thetrevor-
project.org). Four photographers, myself included, donated professionally printed, framed pieces which were raffled off as a fundraiser for The Trevor Project, a national organization devoted to crisis intervention and suicide prevention for LGBTQ young people.
As to how future photographers can get involved in the organization’s events and exhibits, Tarley said this, “The next Round Hole Square Peg will open for new submissions at the end of 2019 for 2020 exhibitions. Our Facebook page will stay up and announce when submissions open for the next show. We also post things of interest to queer photographers all year long.”
