Grand opening ceremony for Air-IT’s new home

Nottingham-based Air-IT, which provides managed ICT services to over 400 local businesses, has celebrated the grand opening of its new office. With its headquarters now located at Interchange 25 Business Park in Sandiacre, Air-IT marked the occasion with a special event. Mayor of Erewash, Councillor Mary Hopkinson, was in attendance and declared the offices open with an official ribbon cutting ceremony.

Since renamed as The Technology Hub, the building was also lit up from the outside by Chamber member Derby Quad’s TECH:SQUAD, which used projection mapping technology to create a visual light show fitting of the new occupant’s brand. Established in 2005 by CEO Todd McQuilkin, Air-IT

relocated their main operations to Interchange 25 Business Park after out-growing their previous home at Nottingham Business Park. In his opening speech, he described the past 12 years as an “incredible journey” and commended present-day Managing Director James Healey for his tireless passion to expand and drive the company forward. James added: “I am very proud of how far Air-IT

has come in the past 12 years. Ultimately, the decision to relocate to Interchange 25 Business Park has enabled us to provide a place where our team can thrive and feel at home so we can continue delivering excellent levels of service.”

Premium quality chilled and ambient foods producer Samworth Brothers is now purchasing all its grid-supplied electricity from certified renewable sources. The move will deliver over

45,000 tonnes of carbon savings per year, equivalent to taking 8,700 cars off UK roads for the same period. All Samworth Brothers’ 19

businesses across the UK have now

made the switch, achieving zero carbon emissions in this area. Sustainability Manager Deborah

Carlin said: “We are delighted to be working with Smartestenergy and moving to a natural renewable option for our electricity supply across the group. Many businesses have aspirations to achieve zero carbon emissions from electricity supply but we are pleased to say we are delivering this change.”

The energy initiative forms part

of the Samworth Brothers’ 4R plan (Reduce, Reuse, Recover and Recycle) which aims to deliver and champion environmental best practice. The 4R Plan has also been

shortlisted or named as a finalist at national awards including the National Recycling Awards, Investors in Zero Waste Awards and the Awards for Excellence Awards.

Martyn and John have both contributed to truly world- changing research and I’m delighted to see them recognised in this way.”
