County Councillor Update
Dear Residents, A Happy New Year to each and every one of you!
January 2018, a new year, new resolutions, new beginnings and new opportunities, what do we all have to look forward to?
• Movement on the large housing project north of Wimborne Road, at last we may begin to see progress. Whether or not it is your own preference it is now going to happen, so we need to look forward to the benefi ts it should bring in the form of additional much needed affordable housing, and some investment in our play facilities – like a renewed skateboard park, and also some new residents to welcome to Corfe Mullen.
• A new community youth centre. We hope to be able to open our community Youth Club very soon. The staff are working very hard to get it ready, to get some new equipment and a lively programme of activities. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award activities are still continuing.
• The re-organisation of the local Councils begins now. A consultation fi nishes on 8th January, after which the process will begin. If you want to comment, please do – write directly to the Secretary of State, The Rt Hon Sajid Javid, House of Commons, London SW1A 0AA. But please make sure your comments get there before 8th January.
Our garden birds fi nd thin pickings at this time of year, if you can keep bird feeders fi lled up they will be delighted and come and visit you regularly.
Lastly, at this time of year, remember our Highways teams who work very hard to keep our roads open, cleared and gritted. They do a good job largely while we are all in bed asleep.
