Currently,accommodation entitlement is based on rankand marital status rather than need.


Thecurrent systemdoes not provide subsidy to allpersonnel and also restricts youinhow and whereyou choosetolive.


Thereis increasing dissatisfaction with the quality of accommodationprovided.


Finally, thecurrentsystemis expensive,the MODspends around £800m to provide an accommodationsubsidy of around £450m


FAMislooking at how the MOD


provides you with housing over the next 50+ years.


Arange of options arebeing considered,but no decisionshaveyet been made.


Under alloptions,the MODwill continue to provide Single Living Accommodation (SLA).


Options arebeing developed forother accommodation(e.g. Service Family Accommodation). These


range from options which looksomething like thecurrent system, throughtooffering you allowances to rent or buy in the privatemarket.


1)Thetotal amount of subsidy personnelasa wholereceivefor accommodationwill notbecut - butchanges to entitlement mean that individuals mayreceivemore or less, dependingontheir need


2)FAMislooking at providingyou with alevel of accommodationsubsidy accordingtoneed, not based on rank or marriage


3)FAMwill continuetosupport youtoremain mobile,but also aims to support thosewho want greaterstabilityfor themselvesand/ortheir families


4)FAMwill provideyou with othersupport (e.g. training, findinga home)toenableyou to liveand work wherethe MODneeds you


5)Whetheryou are in SFAorrentnearwork,you will notbeexpectedtopay more forthe home youneedifyou are assigned to amore expensive location -the MODwill


pick up theextra cost.

FAMisstill in consultation stage – no decisions havebeen taken, but we should be abletotellyou more towards theend of 2017.
