Holiday Guide #1 • 2017~ EVENTS, ENTERTAINMENT, FOOD AND More! Proud & Thankful ... continued from page 3
It got out of control and we lost three of the eight acres we had. I remember running over the hill and pulling off my jacket to help put it out and it was quite traumatizing. It was the family business that my mom, dad & siblings had worked hard at. T e fi re was eventually put out. We survived. We replanted and came back stronger than ever. T at’s what we do. We come
back stronger than ever. T e fi re is over and now we must dig our heels in and show our- selves
and our community
But all the coverage has been overbearing for me and has driven me to make this paper even better. As I spoke to my wife recently, there is a catch 22 to all of this. It has happened... now it’s time to get up and start to move forward. T e weight is tremendous on my shoulders and I will carry the weight be- cause I am proud and this is my community. T is is where Upbeat Times lives and breathes. I want to know, not the tales of sadness, but
the
tales of recovery and the suc- cesses of how we are all get- ting up and moving forward.
Many people have their outlets for healing and I support them fully. I’m hoping that people stay away the best
they can
from anger and blame for what has happened. Everyone is do- ing the best they can. T e many years of drought may have been the catalyst for this disaster... but I am only speculating. As a child of 7 years of age
living in Sebastopol, my folks owned a christmas tree farm. T ere was a heat wave with tem- peratures well over 100 degrees for days & days. A fi re was start- ed by accident from one of my brothers playing with matches.

who we are. Hopefully we will remain positive and resilient through it all. I know I don’t have a choice. Nothing is to diffi cult for me to deal with. Nothing will stop me from moving on. And where I can help I will! And so will thousands of others.

JOKES & Humor # 4 SHORT ONES
I was on a fl ight the other day when the air hostess came up to me and said, “Excuse me sir, would you like to have dinner?”
I said, “What are the options?”
She said, “Yes and No.” ~
My girlfriend isn’t talk- ing to me because apparently I ruined her birthday.
I’m not sure how I did that – I didn’t even know it was her birthday… ~
