quick and easy fundraisers for the autumn term

Free fundraising training

The Foundation for Social Improvement (FSI) will be delivering lots of heavily subsidised face-to-face and online learning opportunities as part of the recently launched Small Charity Training Programme Partnership with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS). The programme is open to small and local charities and community groups

with an annual turnover of less than £1m. The support offered includes conferences, mentoring and advice, match funding and online learning via webinars and videos covering fundraising, governance and back-ofce skills. Upcoming face-to-face training dates are available in Cardiff, London and Shefeld. This support is only available to FSI members, but membership is free, so join today to take advantage of these services. For more information and for a list of available training dates visit thefsi.org/services.

CASH IN ON

OLD TECH Gadget Drive offers a hassle-free fundraising scheme that makes use of old, unused and broken pieces of technology. Simply register online at gadgetdrive.co.uk, allocate a drop-off point within your school and promote the scheme. Accepted items include computers, laptops, mobile phones, digital cameras and games consoles. Items are collected (free-of-charge) to be tested, valued and have any data wiped, before being sold on or recycled. Some schools are already making over £500.

BECOME A MENTAL

HEALTH CHAMPION One in ten young people will experience mental health issues at some point. A recently launched three-year programme from Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is giving every state secondary school in England one free space on a day-long training course to become a Youth MHFA Champion. School staff attending the course will be taught how to spot signs of mental health issues and how to guide young people to a place of support. The programme is being funded by

the Department of Health. Schools are also able to apply to host one of the training courses, receiving up to four additional places in return. For more information, visit mhfaengland.org.

CASH4COINS Now that the summer holidays are over, ask families to donate any unspent foreign currency. Register with cash4coins.co.uk, which securely collects and converts foreign and old British currency into bankable money.

NORTHBROOK WRAPPING PAPER Turn an obligatory Christmas purchase into funds for your school. Just ask your parents to buy their wrapping paper from northbrookfundraising.co.uk, and 15% of their spend will be donated to your school.

FUNDRAISING STAMPS A brilliant scheme to promote before Christmas, Fundraising Stamps buys used stamps in bulk. Schools raise, on average, over £100 a year, so ask your supporters to start saving them! Visit fundraisingstamps.com.
