As the nights draw in, remember that DVDs can be hired from the library at £3 for new releases and £2.50 for all others. Or why not take up a new hobby or plan next year’s holiday? We stock a good range of non- fi ction books, and can request books in from over 150 different libraries at no charge.
Do you know someone who struggles to get to the library due to ill health or disability? Or you can’t easily visit the library because you care for someone else? The library service can come out to you, delivering books and spoken word books free of charge every three weeks. Please ring us and speak to Lisa.
Need to de-stress and unwind? Our adult colouring sessions take place on the fi rst Monday of the month, from 2-3.30pm. All materials are provided free of charge and refreshments are available.

GOOD NEIGHBOURS
B R
We are here to help you! Purbeck Good Neighbours is a volunteer group who can help older people over 50 with small or difficult one-off tasks in their home
WHY CALL US? For example:-
5 Walking a dog when you are unwell 5 Change a light bulb 5 Change some batteries 5 Move some furniture 5 Take away some rubbish 5 Read a letter
HELPLINE
All we ask of you is that you give the volunteer a minimum donation of £2 to cover expenses.
Could you be a Purbeck Good Neighbour?
Would you be able and willing to do occasional simple tasks for a neighbour such as: take some rubbish away - reach a high cupboard - change a light bulb - move some furniture - sweep a front path - change some batteries - re-tune a TV - walk a dog - fi x a smoke alarm - do some shopping.
We have over 120 volunteers in Purbeck, but it is always good to have more – especially in the more rural areas. We have strong support from the local Fire Service, First Responders, GPs, the PACT team, Purbeck Rotary and Home Watch.
We hope to celebrate our fi fth birthday with our volunteers soon and will let you know how you can join us. During our fi ve years we have averaged approximately two tasks per week – we do ask for a minimum donation of £2, but often our clients give more when they see how willing and friendly our volunteers are. These donations cover our telephone, call centre and printing expenses.
If you live anywhere in the Purbeck area and can spare some time to help a neighbour who lives nearby with a small task – we’d love to hear from you! We do not do heavy work or continuing care. We only do small one-off tasks.
