PHARMACY HERO


(PUBLIC VOTE) This award is designed for NOMINATION/PUBLIC VOTE ONLY and the winner will be decided by a panel.


This aim of this award category is to recognise an individual working within the pharmacy industry or a professional body, who excels in a particular area, such as customer service or knowledge of their product base, or who has demonstrated supreme commitment to their profession in terms of education, training or progress.


WHO CAN ENTER? This category is open to all individuals who have demonstrated provision of a product or service, which has enhanced NI community pharmacy Nominees may include pharmaceutical representatives, account managers or individuals working within a Department of Health body


GENERAL AWARDS CRITERIA The award will be presented to an individual within an organisation who can demonstrate a high degree of dedicated commitment to delivering outstanding service to the pharmacy sector in Northern Ireland through:  Evidence of the provision of an exceptional quality of service, which is or has been above and beyond what is expected


 Demonstration of the ability to overcome challenges in pursuit of personal or pharmacy goals


 Qualitative and quantitative evidence of performance benchmarking the measurement.


THE PANEL WILL BE LOOKING FOR:  Exceptional nominees, who have displayed creativity and an inspirational work ethic through either exceptional interaction with others, or the facilitation of new initiatives, training programmes or promotional campaigns


 Evidence of detailed plans/programmes for further research and development


 Evidence of the impact that the nominee’s service/initiative has had on the local community


NOELLE HOLMES Last year’s recipient of this award was Noelle Holmes who became a real-life heroine when a local man ran into a pharmacy suffering from anaphylactic shock. ‘There was definitely a moment of panic at the time,’ Noelle told PiF. ‘Naturally, as a pharmacist, you don’t want to make a mistake, but then I just asked myself what I would expect anyone to do for me or for a family member and I just acted. It was a simple decision at the end of the day.’


YOUNG COMMUNITY PHARMACIST OF THE YEAR


ENTRY CAN BE BY NOMINATION OR BY PERSONAL APPLICATION.


This award provides a great opportunity for a pioneering young pharmacist to not only gain recognition within the profession, but to accelerate their career.


WHO CAN ENTER? The award is open to pharmacists (aged 30 or under at the time of submission), who have been working in a particular pharmacy for more than six months.


The award is also open to former pre-registration students, who may have worked at a particular pharmacy for a minimum of six months in the year up to 29 September 2017, but may no longer be at that pharmacy.


GENERAL AWARDS CRITERIA Enthusiasm and commitment to the enhancement of community pharmacy in Northern Ireland


• Exceptional quality above and beyond what is expected • An ability to overcome challenges in pursuit of goals


• Evidence of how performance was measured and benchmarked in addition to proof of project success/improved patient outcomes.


JUDGES WILL BE LOOKING FOR: Evidence of the applicant’s commitment to mentoring or to other leadership activities


• Examples of initiatives which the applicant has introduced to the pharmacy, which have impacted patient outcomes and helped to develop


pharmacy/community relationships


• Evidence of dedication and commitment to furthering the profession in the future


• Examples of how applicant’s effective communication skills with staff, management and patients have resulted in improved patient outcomes
