beauty ELECTRIC COLOUR
Electric eyeshadow and graphic eyeliner in shocking colours such as green, orange and purple were a definite runway trend. Blocked eyeshadow in white, teal and orange made a strong statement at Richard Malone. If you're using a bold coloured eyeliner or shadow, keep the rest of the make-up clean and minimal.
LIPS
It was all about berry colours. One of the most controversial looks was lipstick smudged over the lipline. People either loved it or hated it. Personally I've never witnessed such a strong reaction to lipstick, so I guess it worked either way.

The fashion shows were all about diversity, individuality and feminism. It was refreshing to see models of all shapes, sizes and ages being embraced on the runways.
MINIMALIST SKIN
Fresh and luminous skin remains in for Autumn. You may want to switch from summer BB & CC creams to a serum and moisturiser suitable for your skin type. Add to this sheer foundation and concealer applied with a light touch.
NOD TO THE MODS
There was a nod to the mods with oversized lashes added to the lower lash line at Jeremy Scott. Think Twiggy in her heyday. If you're not ready for this try adding mascara to your lower lashes. If your lashes are long, keep the mascara close to the lash line to add depth and definition.
Pink was prominently featured strongly on eyes, from liner to shadow and even pink lashes at Pucci. Otherwise eyes were lined in kohl with lots of mascara for more of a sexy, rock n’ roll or goth vibe.
METALLIC & THE NEW SMOKEY EYE
Take a softer approach to the smokey eye using taupes and greys instead of black. Add a pop of red/metallic/cream shimmer eyeshadow to the centre of the eyelid. Dab a little gloss on top for a dewey finish. Use glitter at the inner corners of the eyes.
NEGATIVE SPACE
One of the most interesting trends for Autumn/Winter was the use of negative space to create an unexpected or artistically relevant shape. For instance, where the sweep of an eyeliner usually goes, the space was kept clean, with eyeshadow above and below accentuating the shape it created. This was seen at Margiela and Balmain, the latter using metallic colour and glitter sprinkled in silver and gold.
The most important message in autumn make-up trends is self expression. Being individual, strong and free. Remember there are no rules, so play around, experiment and have fun. Embrace the person you are and be powerful and bold because even if you have your signature look, there's nothing worse than looking the same day in and day out.
