TWO Snodland businesses have won major county awards. Bow Hairdressing and Dazzle


Dolly Nails & Beauty both operate in the High Street and won their prizes in a competition organised by Kent Health & Beauty Awards. Clare Codling who runs Bow with Debbie Batty said they received a telephone call saying that they had been nominated. She said. "We chose to enter the


salon as one entry and our beauti- cian, Ronnie Whittingham, as tech- nician of the year. "The finals were at the Mercure


Hotel in Bearsted and we took home a silver award for salon of the


year and Ronnie received bronze for technician of the year." Jessica West, who owns Dazzle


Dolly, entered Louise Carpenter and she won the silver award for beauty therapist of the year (under three years). She said: "She goes above and beyond to accommodate her clients and is a very well-deserved winner. "I won the gold award for start-up business of the year. I am pleased to have made such good progress running a good solid business and I would like to thank all our clients withoutwhom we would not be the successful salon we are."

Wildlife garden on the agenda


MEMBERS of the Snodland Partner- ship met in the wildlife garden in Recre- ation Avenue before its lastmeeting. Gerald Edgeler, who died aged 80 in


1997, left part of his garden next to the recreation ground, in a trust, for the benefit of wildlife. Dr Andrew Ashbee, curator of Snod-


land Museum and chairman of Snod- land Historical Society, said: "The land was a small-holdingmanaged by Ger- ald and his father, Ernest. The trust oversees the preservation as a site for


wildlife in the area." The house is now the home of Martin


and Brenda Turnbullwho look after the garden.
