taste amazing – there’s no denying that.However, the addedflavourings are often high in sugar and fat – and salt canmake you retainwater too, making you look (andfeel)bloated and ‘puffy’.Nuts are usually an amazing snack choice though – they’re full of healthy fats, protein, fibre and nutrients – just steer clear of the cheap, salted ones.Try a handful of rawalmonds for high- quality protein and lots of vitamin E, or yummy (unseasoned) cashews for a snack that’ll keepyou fuller for longer and supply youwith healthy vitamins,minerals, antioxidants – and of course that essentialprotein too.


Insteadof:Grabbing a fizzydrink Go for:Homemadesoftdrinks


Why? There’s nothing better than a cold, sweetdrink on a hot day…And again, the odd fizzydrink isn’t going to derail your healthydiet thatmuch. The thing is, fizzydrinks have literally no nutritional value.They’re either jam-packedfull of sugar (clearly not going to helpyourwaistline) or artificial sweeteners,which have been linked to a number of health problems, including heart disease and diabetes. Yes, it’ll takemore time, but try impressing your friends and family bymaking your own healthy soft drinkswith fresh ingredients,


such as smashed strawberries mixedwith sodawater and a few mint leaves to top – or simply graba carton of coconutwater.Coconut water is a delicious sweet treat and is lowin calories, full of essential electrolytes, antioxidants, vitamins andminerals.


Insteadof:Vegetablesticks (yes, that’s right – this snack could bemadehealthier!) Go for:Veggie stickswithhummus orpeanutbutter


Why?Well, for a start, howBORING are plain old crudités?!Ok, a bag of carrot sticks is totally healthy andwill fill youwith nutrients and essential fibre.BUT, you’d be better off adding some healthy fats and protein in there too.Hummus is a brilliant option – it’s full of healthy carbs, importantproteinANDessential fats too – and it tastesdelicious. If you’ve got no hummus to hand, try dipping celery in peanutbutter – sounds weird,but trust us, it tastes amazing. Adding the extra (healthy) calories will keepyou fuller for longer too, meaning you’re less likely to snack evenmore later on.


Insteadof: Lowfat flavouredyoghurt Go for:Greek yoghurtwithahandful ofberries

Why? Youmight think thatbecause it says ‘lowfat’, it alsomeans healthy. If only thatwere true. Lowfat branded foodsmay be lower in calories,but to make up for this, they tend to be super high in sugar and artificial additives – and again, they justwon’t fill you up, so you’re probably going to eatmore later on.Try some authentic Greek yoghurt – yes, it’s higher in caloriesbut full of protein (which is important for keeping you slim!) and will really fill you up – and add some yummy berries and a drizzle of honey for some healthy sweetness.


There you have it – start snacking smartly and see the difference in how you feel and look! 
