On Sunday 2nd July, Isobel Clifford and Grace and Ken Morris attended the District Handover Lunch in the Eight Acres Hotel in Elgin. After a delicious lunch, outgoing District Governor, Roddy Duncan, summed up his year before passing on the District Chain of Office to Graeme Archibald, of the Rotary Club of Elgin, for the year 2017-18. His message to those attending and to all Rotarians was summed up on the back of the menu. It said:


My fellow Rotarians and friends, I’m delighted you've been able to join me on this special occasion as I take on the appointment as District 1010 Governor for our Rotary year 2017-18. In the year ahead I look forward to visiting all Clubs in our District to share with them the messages and challenges we need to address as we roll up our sleeves and get jobs done. Whilst Rotarians may not have changed greatly, the environment we live in has and we need to recognise this. Awareness of Rotary has grown in recent year s but we mus t ensure our communities know who we are and of some of the achievements we have delivered.


Our End Polio Now Challenge is now A Countdown to History Campaign. The challenge which started in 1986 is incredibly close to the conclusion we all want to see. Let’s make sure our contributions continue over the next three years to eradicate the disease forever. We are people of action who take on challenges and get things done. We need vision. We need to be true to ourselves and we need to be fair to our neighbours so that together we can and will ‘Make a Difference’. Enjoy fun and fellowship in your Clubs in the next year as we continue to work together helping communities both locally and internationally.

Graeme then presented the District regalia to the members of new team. Amongst those receiving these was our own Isobel Clifford who has taken over the role of Assistant Governor for Area 6 from Malcolm Horner. So watch out members, she will keep on our toes!


Seriously though Isobel, we all wish you well in this new post and trust you find it interesting and fulfilling.
