When the Club learned that the Cosmos Centre was looking for someone to sponsor the running of the annual Sandcastle Competition on the West Sands for 5 weeks in July and August, we were delighted to be able to step in and help out. The money donated was to help with printing, publicity and the purchase of juice and crisps for the events. Posters can be seen around the town, as in the window of Innes’s Book Shop shown here. On one lovely sunny day, President John Spittal met with some of the children from the Summer School Club to mark the donation and as you can see from the photo, a great time was had by all. On the competition days, which have been well supported, the Cosmos staff man the booking in table and various guest judges are invited to try to work out who should win in the different categories. We were asked to provide t h e j u d g e s f o r two occasions and if you ask those who were involved they will tell you that it was not an easy task. Many factors have to be taken into account and occasionally there were mutterings…….. The following page shows a selection of photos taken on the two days club members judged. A lot of ingenuity was used and fun was had by all.
