‘Waiting For God’ Cast Visits Nursing Home The residents of Burwood Nursing Home have
been treated to their own showing of ‘Waiting for God’ at the home. The cast of ten, including Jeffrey Holland from Hi-de-Hi and and Nichola McAuliffe, came to meet the residents and decided to do an impromptu performance in the theatre at the home.
They had planned just to come to meet us, but when they saw the stage in the theatre, Nichola insisted on putting on a show. She said we need two chairs, a table, a pack of cards and a walking stick. Then off they went and did the fi rst half of the
show. It was amazing having them on our own stage doing their performance.
They wanted to come to see us as they were intrigued to hear we had a theatre in our nursing home, probably the only one in the country.
The original 1990s TV show of Waiting for God was set in a care home in Bournemouth and there is currently a touring production of the show.
