District Councillor Report

The last three months have been really busy with elections and events.

I want to congratulate Michael Tomlinson MP on being re-elected. I also want to congratulate fellow Councillors Paul Harrison and Derek Burt (pictured with me below) for becoming the chairmen of Corfe Mullen Parish Council and East Dorset District Council respectively.

In July we welcomed the Revd. Jane Bushell as the new Rector of the Parish of Corfe Mullen and look forward to her expertise and determination to help and improve community projects.

At the licensing committee in July we froze taxi fares for another year and discussed how we can improve legislation to protect animals in our pet shops, kennels and catteries and these measures are going for public consultation in the next couple of months. Please keep an eye out for the consultation document on Dorset For You – your opinions are really important to us.

We also discussed the future of democracy in East Dorset and voted to join a committee of all councils to discuss our concerns.

I hope you all have a lovely summer holiday. Best wishes,

Cllr Sarah Burns csllu s d M
