Broadstone Scout Group Is Growing! Calling young people aged 10.5 to 14 years old
So, step one of our journey has been an amazing success and step two has now commenced – an attempt to re-open Brookdale Scout troop. Once again, we are working with a group of volunteers to plan and run taster sessions and we hope to see the troop established before the summer holidays.
We do have spaces for more young people in this unit, so if you are between the ages of 10.5 and 14, are free on a Monday evening and would be interested in the fun, challenge and adventure that Scouting has to offer, please get in touch.
Broadstone has been a successful, thriving Scout Group for many years, offering many young people the opportunity to experience the fun, challenge and adventure that Scouting has to offer. But there are many who have been unable to experience Scouting, evidenced by our extensive waiting list.
So we’ve embarked on an exciting journey to grow the group to bring Scouting to even more young people in Broadstone. With the help of the Scout Association Regional Services Team, we embarked on the challenge with an open evening in January for all those on the waiting list of Cub and Scout age, together with their parents. They had a great evening full of fun and excitement and this led to a fantastic group of 11 parents interested in volunteering with the Cub age group.
They threw themselves with enthusiasm into planning and running fi ve taster sessions for the young people with support from experienced leaders. The children and adults alike all really enjoyed these sessions, with activities ranging from tent pitching to planting pots for Mother’s Day to potato printing.
The result is the re-opening of Brookdale Cub Pack and we had the joy of investing 14 Cubs into the new pack on Thursday 25th May (pictured), which is a fantastic achievement for us all. Three more were on holiday and will be invested after the half term break.
