Broadstone First School, Age 4-9 At Broadstone First School we
believe in taking children out of their comfort zone and encouraging them to take risks. Trying new things helps us to identify our passions.
Year 4 recently went to PGL in Osmington Mills for a residential trip. This is always a hugely successful trip for all involved as children are encouraged to try new activities, work with different people and of course, stay away from home.
When the children returned they were bubbling with excitement at how much they had loved the trip. From making new friends to trying different food and tackling fears of heights, water and being away from parents. Have a read of what they had to say…
“I was very nervous on the fi rst night because it was weird sleeping away from home, but by the end I knew that I did not need
to be worried – I would see them in a few days. I felt a bit more adventurous!” Maisy
“I learned to balance more and how to be a bit more brave on the giant swing – I wasn’t scared of heights any more.” Isaac
“I overcame my fears about being away from my family – and I got braver. My favourite activity was the zip wire because you got an amazing view!” Olly
Huge thanks to all involved – because of your extreme dedication our learners had an amazing time!
Broadstone Middle School, Age 9-13
On Tuesday 16th May, Broadstone Middle School pupils had the chance to go on a variety of Google Expeditions.
This was an exciting opportunity for the students to use virtual reality equipment to be immersed in experiences that bring abstract concepts to life and gives students a deeper understanding of the world beyond the classroom.
Students were guided by their teacher on a virtual school trip to places like The Great Barrier Reef, Elizabethan Bristol and even through a virtual digestive system.
The trips are collections of virtual reality panoramas – 360° photo spheres, 3D images and video, annotated with details, points of interest and questions that make them easy to integrate into the curriculum already used in our school.
The students and staff really enjoyed this new experience and there was a real ‘buzz’ of excitement during every session, as you can see:
