Youth Club Needs Gardeners, Kit and Volunteers!

It has been a busy term at Broadstone Youth Club, where we have said a sad goodbye to our Youth Development Worker and welcomed a new young volunteer – who was previously a member himself.

As well as music, sport, gaming and general ‘chill and chat,’ we have taken part in World Record attempts, tried new foods and taken part in some crazy games and reunited friends who had gone off to different secondary schools!

We hope that the summer holidays will see some minor building works to our building to improve our toilets and upgrade some of our equipment, but we will need some help. We want to improve our outside space, so we are looking for someone to help us level our garden, take away the soil and resurface the area... we also want to re-carpet one of the rooms and would love some new Xbox and Wii games (suitable for 12-14yr olds) and controllers as well as a punchbag, pads and boxing gloves if anyone is clearing out over the summer.

Our volunteer team will be planning the new

programme over the summer and we are still hoping to extend our service to additional children. However, we are ALL volunteers and our current team simply cannot cover an extra evening without more people. If you have thought about giving something to your community, why don’t you get in touch. Two hours a week during term-time is all it takes and no experience is necessary.

Our volunteers range in age from 15 to 81 and most have no professional background with children or teenagers – other than being one many, many years ago! It would be so sad if we cannot continue to offer a Youth Club to the young people of Broadstone, but this is a very real possibility if we cannot increase the number of volunteers. Please get in touch with me and I will show you round and chat through a typical evening!
