Kennedy's Bakery Production
Kennedy’s 1-2-1 interview
Angus Kennedy speaks with Markus Rustler, President / CEO at Theegarten- Pactec, Germany, who looks ahead to Interpack this year, revealing a first in wrapper intelligence, his top 5 latest innovations, and why Interpack is the clear choice in 2017
Angus Kennedy: “It’s great to catch up with you again, and also to hear you might be revealing some of your top innovations for 2017 Mr Rustler. But first of all, I see you didn’t exhibit at ProSweets; you wanted to comment on this?”
Markus Rustler: “Thank you Angus for the opportunity. Yes I do. ProSweets decided to run in the same year Interpack, although originally we were told that this would not be the case. This is a move that has stirred some ‘controversy.’”
AK: “Yes that’s correct, that was the first question people asked when ProSweets was born – what about an Interpack year?”
MR: “The ProSweets exhibition has been developing nicely over the last few years, and we have been very happy with the trade fair. However, now the organisers have decided to run during an Interpack year; as an exhibitor, we cannot justify not only the extra costs, but also the

time it takes with an extra 4-6 weeks preparing for this additional show. It does not make sense for us to appear on this occasion in the year of interpack. Interpack is much more important to us. ProSweets has been a great show for us to regularly present the smaller developments on a yearly basis.”
AK: “What about your customers, what’s their view?”
MR: “Most customers gave a 100% positive feedback and say ‘don’t worry about it’. Our customers and our
management team believe the focus has to be on one show. There is too much pressure to focus on two big shows just months apart. We work on a three-year cycle to coincide with Interpack – from the first idea to the first prototype – and in May when Interpack takes place, we will have our developments ready!”
AK: “Yes, and I understand that you have been quite busy preparing some very exciting developments for this. That’s noble of you to share some news now Mr Rustler… and wise I would say!
