The Melody Makers International grand summer show
Well, it’s here again! The Melody Makers International grand summer show. Most of you should remember January’s ultra-successful show - An Evening with Andrew Lloyd Webber - surely the best entertainment seen and heard on the Costa for a decade. Well, we believe we’ve topped even that with our upcoming show -The Sound Of Musicals.
The usual two shows will be heard on Saturday 24th June at both 2pm and 8pm in the beautiful surroundings of the Orihuela Costa Resort Hotel at La Zenia.
Phil is now the fifth male recruit to enjoy playing a game of scrabble.
In May the bonus word round was related to journeys. Chris won the bottle of wine by playing the highest scoring word “jams”, which he managed to lay, making two triple word scores with the ‘s’. ‘Jams’ aren’t something we see a lot of in Spain, so journeys out here are somewhat better.
Congratulations to Karen for achieving the highest individual score of 392 in one game.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday 27th June at Cafebar Almoradi - congregating at 3pm for 3.30pm start.

The shows will feature extensively from the music of Les Miserables, West Side Story, Oliver and My Fair Lady. Songs from many other shows will be featured, including Singing In The Rain, Miss Saigon, Follies, Showboat, Beauty and the Beast, Man of La Mancha, Phantom of the Opera and Pirates of Penzance. The whole show will be accompanied by a professional band from both the UK and Spain, and feature the fabulous soloists which have been a feature of Nigel Hopkins’ shows for so many years. These will include the two leading young singers on the Costa, Rebecca Holt and Verity Hall - both different - both quite excellent. Leading star-of-the-moment Bill Nicholson will feature, as well as the comic genius of Eric Berg - never to be missed.
Tickets for both shows (2pm – 10€, and 8pm - 12€) are available at the NEW La Ponderosa Gift Shop - just 100m up the road from the old one on La Zenia island. They are also available at the CardPlace at both Punta Prima and Benimar, as well as the DEBRA charity shops in La Marina and Quesada.
