Quesada Bowls Club Report sponsored by Spanish Life Properties
This month Quesada has been the host for the second week Spanish National Championships where we saw the culmination of the Championships with quarter finals, semi finals and finals of all the disciplines.
Once again Quesada Bowls Club has shown its strength with several of our teams reaching semi finals and finals. Congratulations to Peta Rhodes and Carol Broomfield in taking the silver medals in the Ladies Pairs event. What an event the Ladies Singles Championship turned out to be with two of our club members meeting each other in final. Our two club singles finalists, Carol Broomfield and Jacqui Johnston meeting once again, but this time it was Jacqui who took the Gold Medal, in what was a magnificent display of singles play.
On the middle weekend of the Nationals, The Club at Quesada hosted a mid Nationals event, with a magnificent buffet, followed by entertainment and dancing.
By the time this is distributed we will have taken part in the President’s Cup, where, Quesada was the host venue. This event was open to all teams on the Costa Blanca and 12 teams competed.
Our spring leagues are well under way with all our teams currently doing very well and our Lions Valencian Championship league team are currently in top position.
The end of May saw the commencement of our friendly games with near neighbours Greenlands and these games will be played on Thursdays until the middle of July.
On 27th June we will be commencing our skills evenings for our club members. This is being run by ex International coach Jackie Breslin, assisted by our club Vice Captain, Carol Broomfield. This will take place on Tuesday evenings starting at 6pm and will run for several weeks.
Our Saturday morning ‘Chicken Drive’ is open to visitors. Players wishing to take part should report at 9.45am for a 10am start.
