COMMERCIAL PROPERTY CONSULTANCY – FIRM WINNER – LAMBERT SMITH HAMPTON

This category was assessed based on data researched by CoStar into the number and volume of office deals achieved by consultancies in the award-qualifying period.

Finalists contesting this first award of the evening were: • CBRE – the global real-estate adviser. • Hollis Hockley – with bases at Farnborough and Basingstoke. • Lambert Smith Hampton – offices across the Thames Valley. • Savills – serving the region from its Reading office. Another successful year

Presenting the award, Colin Allan, MD of Morgan Lovell, the office design and fit-out specialist, revealed that Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) achieved nearly 90 transactions in the qualifying period. LSH had also retained its proud TVPA title for another year.

What’s the winning secret?

With the LSH Thames Valley team having offices in Reading, Oxford, Maidenhead and Guildford to serve clients, is on-the-ground availability its winning secret?

Nick Coote, head of the Thames Valley team, agreed that ‘boots on the ground’ was an advantage but it had to be supported by “serious Thames Valley knowledge, experience and expertise.” Also, LSH had stability, he pointed out, highlighting his own 20-year involvement with LSH, and a recent meeting he had held with two directors each

with 25-year LSH careers. “Plus, the expertise of our whole team has developed broadly over the years.”

Such factors had led to LSH involvements in varied deals, and often the biggest.

Coote exampled acquiring 180,000 sq ft office space for SSE in Reading, selling the Gateway site in Reading to Kier and then pre- letting that. “We have acquired offices for McLaren F1 in Woking and have a major industrial scheme for SEGRO in Bracknell. Also, we have good US-links and are acquiring properties for various tech companies.

“We are market leaders and this win speaks for that,” he stated. But, LSH is not resting on its laurels. “We are hungry still,” added Coote.

INDUSTRIAL & LOGISTICS PROPERTY CONSULTANCY WINNER – CUSHMAN & WAKEFIELD

Sponsored by:

• JLL – the professional services firm with offices at Stockley Park. • LSH – with offices in Reading, Maidenhead, Oxford and Guildford. • Sharps Commercial – the Reading and Thames Valley agents. The winner’s achievement

Ged Parry, asset manager at SEGRO, the renowned real-estate developer and property investment group, announced from the stage that the winner had been “out front in both number of deals and total square footage.”

How do you find and transact so many good deals?

From property consultancies undertaking deals focused on accommodating people, the TVPA progressed to firms dealing with properties more focused on the manufacture, storage and movement of products and data.

This category was again assessed based on data provided by CoStar, covering industrial/logistics deals completed by property consultancies from January 2016 to February 2017. CoStar can gather objective deals information by Thames Valley regional postcode from its extensive industry-leading database.

The finalists for this award were: • Cushman & Wakefield – with a portfolio across the region.

Cushman & Wakefield partner Karen Thomas explained: “It’s a combination of factors but we are well-based in the Thames Valley at Stockley Park, right in the heart of the area that we serve. That area is historically a mature and very resilient market, well-known and so creates its own demand. But, my team is always very enthusiastic, looking for opportunities and ultimately, no matter where or whatever they are doing, it is always client-focused front and centre.

“My team has developed, matured and evolved, and, being at Ascot Racecourse tonight, I can fittingly say that it’s all about getting ‘horses for courses’, and we certainly have the right people* to do the right job for every client that we serve.”

*Later in the evening Heather Harvey-Wood of Cushman & Wakefield won the “Young Property Professional of the Year’ title.
