Baxter County Animal Control
The Baxter County Animal Control facility, which opened in 2006, takes in homeless animals from all of Baxter County, except for inside the city limits of Mountain Home. The animals are brought to the shelter by an animal control officer, where they are examined for tattoos, scars, approximate age and possible breed, as well as scanned for a microchip.

Humane Society of North Central Arkansas
The Humane Society of North Central
Arkansas is a no-kill shelter that rescues homeless, abandoned, abused and unwanted cats and dogs in Baxter County. The nonprofit organization has served the community for 35 years and is supported solely by donations and bequests from the public. It also operates a thrift shop that contributes about one-third of the shelter’s operating costs. The thrift shop offers free pickup on large items donated for resale. All donations are tax-deductible. Contact the shelter office if you are interested in becoming a foster home.
