the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation fully funded con- struction of the 35,500- square-foot library building, which opened in the fall of 2010. In 2015, library visits had a daily average of 602 visitors. Program attendance dur-


ing 2016 totaled 38,245 partic- ipants up 26% the year be- fore, according to the li- brary’s annual report. Pro- grams included the Tween Advisory Council, Classic Saturdays, Adult Coloring Club, Studio 300 Market Place, Scratch Lab, Crazy 8‘s Math Club and Try Some- thing New. Partnering with Mountain

in the fall of 2016, Every student in the 6th-9th grades, 1,200 students, received a Tech Card giving them ac- cess to a various educational resources for help with homework and school pro- jects. The Library also part-


nered with The Food Bank of North Central Arkansas to serve over 400 meals to chil- dren attending Library pro- grams on Saturdays. This partnership continued when school started with snacks for students attending the Library’s after school pro- grams. The library’s collection


contains 85,000 items plus a large selection of eBooks, audio books and videos avail- able for downloading from baxlib.org. Patrons may bor-


row books, movies and music or visit the library to read and use public computers. The library also offers Wi-Fi and high speed Internet. Library cards are avail-


able at no charge to Baxter County residents and Arkan- sas State University Moun- tain Home students. Resi- dents outside of Baxter Coun- ty may obtain a library card for a $30 annual fee. The library also features a


local history and genealogy room, and access to micro- film and microfilm reader. Community organizations may book the Knox Commu- nity Meeting Rooms at no cost during regular library hours and for a fee after library hours. Businesses may also book the rooms for a fee.


Volunteers are vital to the
