GASSVILLE — Gassville is a grow-
ing community that welcomes both visitors and new residents. The city is located between
Mountain Home and Cotter on U.S. Highway 62/412 and has a popula- tion of 2,130 residents, according to the 2013 census. Jeff Braim is Gassville’s mayor,
elected in November 2010. Gassville is situated near the
White River, which is well known for its rainbow and brown trout, and proximity to Norfork and Bull Shoals lakes. Gassville offers many conve-
niences to its residents and visitors, including banks, restaurants, a branch of the Baxter County Li- brary, convenience stores, pharma- cy, grocery store, post office and many other businesses. Gassville’s City Park has a play-
ground, walking track, lighted ball field, a large pavilion available for reservation by calling City Hall, ADA-accessible restrooms and picnic tables. City Park is the setting for the
town’s annual festival the first Sat- urday in June — Gassville in the Park. A memorial in the park honors
Jim Sell, a part-time police officer killed in the line of duty Feb. 4, 2006. A portion of U.S. Highway 62/412, which runs through Gass- ville, also is named in his honor. Jeff Lewis is Gassville recorder/
treasurer. Bill Johnson is fire chief. Tim Mayfield is chief of police. Gassville has a Class 5 Insurance
Services Office fire rating, attribut- able to the hard work of volunteers and previous leaders over a number of years, officials say. Gassville has a 1 percent city
sales tax, part of the combined city, county and state sales tax total of 8.5 percent. Water connections at Gassville
are obtained by contacting Wanda Watson at City Hall and paying a $105 deposit, which the city holds until the resident relocates. City Hall office hours are 8 a.m.
to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. For more information, visit cityofgass-
