MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION


Motor vehicles may be registered with the state of Arkansas by Internet, telephone or mail. Vehicle registration service also may be completed in person at the Baxter County offices of the state Department of Revenue, located just off the Mountain Home Square. The address is: Department of Revenue, 200 E. Eighth St., No. 102, Mountain Home, AR 72653. Phone: 425-2571. The office is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. The website for the Department of Finance and Administration is www.dfa.arkansas.gov. Other services available to county residents through the local revenue office include driver’s license renewals and first-time voter registration.

ARKANSAS INCOME TAX RETURNS


Forms for filing Arkansas income tax returns are available locally at the revenue office. State income taxes are due at the Little Rock offices of the Revenue Department on or before April 15 each year. Self-addressed envelopes for mailing tax returns to the Little Rock offices are furnished with the return forms.


BAXTER COUNTY VOTER REGISTRATION


The Baxter County Clerk’s Office is the custodian of the local record of registered voters. The clerk’s office is in the Baxter County Courthouse at the center of the Mountain Home downtown square. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Newcomers to Baxter County may register in person at the clerk’s office. A current and valid photo identification is required. To register by mail, you must provide


either your driver’s license number or the last four digits of your Social Security number on the Arkansas Voter Registration Application, or check the box in #7 on the application to indicate you do not possess either a driver’s license or Social Security number. If you check the box in #7, you will be required to submit a photocopy of a current and valid photo identification; or a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check or paycheck that shows your name and address; or another government document that shows your name and address. Registration forms also are available on the Internet at www.arkansas.us.gov. Personal identification and a signature will be required of the voter at the precinct before a ballot is issued.

The office of the Arkansas attorney general is the state’s official enforcement agency for consumer protection issues. The purpose of the attorney general’s consumer protection division is to represent and protect the state, its subdivisions, the legitimate business community and the general public as consumers. The AG’s consumer protection division also investigates violations of consumer protection laws and prosecutes civil cases on behalf of the public.
