Congratulations to National Express LLC for 100 years of successful student transportation. Celebrating our own 50th anniversary, all of us at Collins Bus are proud to continue a solid partnership half a century in the making.
STN: You were going to install DriveCams on all Chattanooga buses by the end of the school year and on all 16,000 of your buses nationwide in 2 years. Have those cameras been installed in Chattanooga, and if so how have they performed? Duke: We’ve installed DriveCam on all of our buses in Chattanooga, as well as at various locations across North America. Te system has enabled us to identify coaching opportunities to improve the driving of our employees. We’re reviewing and assessing the data that has been captured to determine how it’s impacting driver behavior and how it will help us improve safe driving skills. Over the past three months, the average number of coachable events has reduced by more than 28 percent.
STN: Has the company’s new chief safety officer been hired, and if so what has been the impact of this new position? Duke: A big piece of executing this part of our plan was drawing on the strength of our team mem- bers. With nearly 20 years in various leadership roles in the company, Bob Ramsdell was an ideal choice to take on this important role. Since January, Bob has made great progress with our safety initiatives and has been a true leader in ensuring that they are rolled out efficiently and properly. We’ve also added a vice president of safety compliance, reporting to Bob, and created safety analyst positions to make use of the data being collected.
STN: What is in the future for Durham School
Services, Stock Transportation and Petermann Bus? Duke: Te future holds much potential and promise
