Issue 175

January 2016

Oh, hi January. Sigh. Te month of empty pockets and temporary gym memberships. It’s more of an endurance than a joy, like certain individuals I know. Ahem. Still, Outline’s here as usual, stout of belly and full of cheer to light your way through these dark days.

So, what’s the haps, Norwich? Although January is, as always, a little lean in gig terms, there are still some gems to discover out there, especially the many diamonds in our local music scene, which has blossomed over the last 12 months. In this issue you can discover more about who you ought to check out in 2016. In particular we’re well excited about Future Radio’s Next Big Ting, in association with Open Live Music and us. Te semi finals are at the end of the month and we’ve got the lowdown on who might join the list of past winners.

New Year’s resolutions are an arse, aren’t they? Putting the thumb screws on yourself is mighty fiddly, but no doubt we’ll all be weeping about how life would be perfect if only we were thinner, richer, smoked less, drank less and saw our mums more. Check out what you lot hope to get ticked off the list in 2016 in Say Whaaat this month.

Check our interview with Kitty out of Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, one third of the tuneful triumvirate playing at the Arts Centre this month. I had a lovely chat with Charming Northern Gentleman Richard Hawley, and also with Huey, Fun Lovin’ Criminals’ front-dude and rad radiohead. We went to Te Grosvenor for some grub, the Lord Rosebery for some beers and checked out some great new albums for ya. Pam’s House have been havin’ it large on the regular for 20 years now, so we’ve had a look back at how the party got started and how it’s still going strong. Tere are reviews of Te Hateful Eight and Straight Outta Compton and as always, our infamous centrefold stars, by which I mean photos of you, yes, you, out on the lash.

2016 is gonna be chockfull of the most excellent albums, live music, films, food, beers and general funs. I just know it. In the words of the mighty Talk Talk, baby, life’s what you make it.

Peace.
