the inner realm and the outer form, and to achieve integration of the two by way of non- attachment.
The next creation was technical and very challenging, a riddle that inevitably intrigues the viewer: “How did the jade get inside the wood?” The answer is a philosophical one hidden in the title of the piece, The Way of Oneness. And what emerged was the blending of his two primary passions: art and a quest for understanding life’s deeper meaning. And how sculpting in fact is a very tactile and tangible metaphor for our existence, which when presented and understood in the right context, will transform both the creative process and the quality of everyday living. This eventually resulted in a lecture/workshop series titled “Sculpture and Consciousness, a Spiritual Perspective on Form”
This insight, along with his childhood cultural imprinting of a time and era where creation in any artistic endeavor was expected to speak for itself, and for its creator, underlies his reluctance to speak of achievements, awards and collections his works are in, as has become customary. Instead, he emphasizes the importance of perceiving his sculptures, or any art work, in an unconditioned state of presence, which will reveal the true identity of the artist better than conceptualized words can ever convey.
