Create a "True Value Plan" ASSOCIATE COUNCIL NEWS
to be a pause, we as sales associates have the opportunity to balance current demands with future unknown. The upcoming election has the country and the business world in this state of wait- and-see. But I say, if you wait on others, someone will pass you by. So let's get to work!
I
In Texas we are experiencing a continued growth in the housing market. As sales associates, are we bringing the best value and new products to the front?
2012 Associate Council President Tony Boilek, account executive, Sherwin-Williams Paint Co. He can be reached at

Key decision makers in our industry will often use pricing as a means to distract or say no to your product or services. I would challenge that thought perception with the “True Value Plan.” Before trying to sell, review your potential customer's busi- ness, so you are equipped to highlight the value of your product and service—and make it specific to their needs. While pricing will always be an important factor, keep in mind what are you bringing to the table. Does it justify a potential customer changing a long term contract or relation- ship with their current supplier?
The First Step: Show Up!
Don't forget, the Associate Council meets again on September 6 at 11:30. We are
t is not too early to start focusing on 2013. With the economy in what seems
looking forward to our popular "Lunch with Legends" event. Tickets are available at
www.ghba.org/ register. Don’t miss this opportunity to attend. After all, the first step is to show up!
GHBA Family Day
Mark your calendar for the return of GHBA’s Annual “Family Day” at Dewberry Farms in Brookshire on September 29. This event is an opportunity to mix and mingle with fellow members and their families in a day of fun filled activities for all ages. Tickets are $20 and include lunch and refreshments. Children 2 and under are free. Sign up at
www.ghba.org/register or contact Peggy at

The Associate Council Pledge
Remember this is a marathon, not a sprint. As Sam Walton, savvy businessman, said, “There is only one boss, the customer. He can fire everybody in the company from the chairman down, simply by spending money somewhere else.”
The Associate Council pledge is to “make sure membership is working for you,” and we stand by that! Join us at our next meet- ing to see how the council can benefit your business in 2012 and beyond. You won’t be disappointed.
