t the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting held in May Mark Nodder was elected as the new president of the Chamber and a number of new Council Members also took their seats. We have asked each of the new members to introduce themselves. Many you will already know. Stephen McCully was also elected as a Board member.

Fred Smyth, regional business manager, Bank of Ireland
A qualified chartered accountant with PWC, Fred has been with Bank of Ireland for over 20 years and has extensive business and retail banking experience. He has headed up Corporate, Business and Retail units across Northern Ireland. Fred has assisted the full range of businesses, from start up through to corporate level, in successfully growing their business in both domestic and overseas markets. He is also a member of the Board of Simon Community NI.
Tony Gallagher, professor of Education and pro‑vice‑chancellor at Queenʼs University
Professor Gallagher was head of the School of Education from 2005 to 2010. In his role as pro‑ vice‑chancellor his main responsibilities cover academic planning, staffing and external relations ‒ with the Communications and External Relations Office of the University he won a 2012 CIPR Excellence Award for a campaign on higher education funding.
His main research interest relates to the role of education in divided societies, a theme on which he has worked in South East Europe, the Middle East and Northern Ireland.
In his academic role in the University he is currently leading the Sharing Education Programme, a major project encouraging school collaborative to promote higher standards and reconciliation.

Samuel Brown, divisional director, Investec Wealth & Investment.
Sam has been with the company for 25 years, he specialises in private clients and trust work. He is a past chairman of the London Stock Exchange Northern Ireland regional unit, and is also a past president of the Chartered Securities & Investment Institute.
His work involves Financial Planning for clients with a large involvement in Inheritance Tax Planning.
Michael Clarke, director of Management Consultancy and Internal Audit Services, Goldblatt McGuigan
Michaelʼs own specialism is IT enabled strategic change and organisational development in the public and private sectors. He has worked on a variety of related projects in Northern Ireland, Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland, including the development of ICT strategies, investment appraisals and the specification, procurement and implementation of a range of ICT systems and services.
In his spare time he plays an active part in local economic development activities through his role as chair of North Antrim Business Agency, the Local Enterprise Agency for Moyle. Michael is a former Northern Ireland chair of the Institute of Consulting, during which he also served on the Instituteʼs national Council.
