s one of Newcastle’s most-loved acts, Ty has opened for international acts including Mick
Jagger, Midnight Oil, INXS and the Baby Animals. He has taken his talent
overseas, but still loves to please the locals back home. Ty’s solo show produces the
sound of a full three‐piece band and, with his song selection of more than 200 songs, he really gets the joint jumping. Ty’s song list includes AC/
DC, Alice Cooper, Blur, Bruce Springsteen, Deep Purple, Cat Stevens, Blondie, Eagle Eye Cherry, the Beatles and Elvis Presley. You can catch Ty at the Nags Head on Friday, May 25.

Gypsy Song Cycle. These seven poems were chosen
by Dvorak from the collection of 21 beautiful poems by Heyduk. They are folk songs, and the most
famous, and of course, most well- known, is Songs My Mother Taught Me. Other pieces include piano works
of Enrique Granados, his Valses Poeticos, Edvard Grieg’s Notturno and those of Claude Debussy. There are soprano songs from Kalman’s Countess Maritza, Johann Strauss II Die Fledermaus, Lehar’s Guiditta and others of your favourites. This sensual music is bound to get
your red blood corpuscles going, so come along and enjoy some paprika- fi lled moments of passion and be spirited away, to another place and time, with distinctly beautiful piano performances from Vorster and stupendous singing from McGregor. Together, they make an unforgettable team. McGregor has an extensive
background in singing, acting, directing, writing and all aspects of theatre. She has studied voice for many

years, winning numerous prizes for her performances. She has been guest artist and soloist
for recitals and choral works and has performed in a diverse range of music and drama productions. She has designed productions, sets,
lighting and costumes, with practical work in all areas of theatre. Also a qualifi ed visual artist with
an associate diploma in art, craft and design from TAFE, McGregor enjoys painting murals and has held group and solo exhibitions around Australia, winning prizes for her work in religious art. Vorster was born in South Africa
and migrated to Australia in the early ’80s and swiftly established himself as a leading pianist and accompanist, performing with leading artists all around the world. His CD recordings have received outstanding reviews from major publications around the world, as well as a Gramophone magazine award for the recording of the two-piano version (with Robert Chamberlain) of Holst’s The Planets, and an ARIA nomination for his Naxos recording of music by Manuel de Falla. He is on the piano staff of the University of Melbourne, Monash University and VCASS. Hear this duo as they go on tour at
Adamstown Uniting Centre, Brunker Road, at 2 pm on Saturday, June 2. Tickets will be available at the door.
