Meeting Summary T e MHC’s Annual Membership Meeting was preceded by a special meeting with MDA staff to discuss the proposed changes to the State’s Nutrient Management regulations (add reference to article). Attendees also got the chance to meet MHIB Touch Of Class Awardee, Pan Am Games Silver Medalist John Crandell and to hear him tell of his exploits and experiences as a Champion Endurance rider. T e meeting included great discussion and updates on such important topics as: the kickoff of the Maryland Fund For Horses (a new tax exempt entity to support T e Unwanted Horse Project, and other great initiatives, planning for next session of the General Assembly in Annapolis, an update on Laurel and Pimlico 2012 Racing Dates, and info on the new Horse Council PAC.

Maryland Horse Industry Board Executive Director Ross Peddicord gives an update on MHIB’s activities to meeting attendants. President Steuart Pittman explained that the MHIB is funded by the horse people through the Maryland Feed Fun (in which 15 cents of every bag of feed sold is collected for the MHIB).

Horse farm owners packed into MHC’s annual meeting to learn more about MDA’s proposed manure management regulations.
