burning forge, anvil, and related tools. Fundamental techniques developed throughout the course are drawing out, upsetting, punching, and splitting and twisting. Students become familiar with hardening and tempering of the tools, and basic forge welding techniques. Projects to be completed include punches, chisels, and tongs. Other projects are coordi- nated with the development of basic techniques. Lectures include shop safety and the use of related power tools. Eye protection is required, and hearing protection and heavy boots are recommended. 10 wks
