The need for pharmacy technicians is expected to grow 21-35 percent through 2012 according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The pharmacy technician assists the pharmacist with mixing and packaging prescriptions, maintaining client records, referring clients to the pharmacist for counseling assistance, inventory control and purchasing, collecting payments, and coordinating billing. The course combines 182 hours of classroom instruction with a 120 hour pharmacy externship. Course fee of $2695 includes books, consumable supplies, externship, and course completion certificate. High school diploma required to enroll in this program.

Phlebotomy Technicians draw blood from patients in a hospital, clinical laboratory, doctor’s office or clinic. This course prepares students to be eligible to take the certification exam as required by the State of California for working as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1. 48 classroom hours / 40 externship hours.

ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORDS (EHR) SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN
This is an online course 2011 start dates: 9/15/11 and 11/1/11 2012 start dates: 1/4/12, 2/9/12, 3/20/12
As an Electronic Health Records (EHR) System Technologist you will assist healthcare providers to choose, implement, train and maintain an electronic health records system. Student will learn the essential components of the electronic health information exchange essentials; system selection and implementation; project management and fundamentals of change and human factors. This online course is 216 hours in length completed over 18 weeks. Course fee of $3600 includes books, online access to program, and course completion certificate. Prerequisites: Minimum 18 years of age, high school diploma or equivalent required to enroll in this program. Admission to the program is open to any interested student who is proficient in keyboarding, has a basic understanding of a word processing computer program (Microsoft Word recommended) and has a command of English grammar and punctuation. Students will be required to have access to the Internet, printing capabilities and an email address.
