Ikebana is the art of traditional Japanese flower arranging and is fun, relaxing, and easy to learn. Design beautiful, original, harmonious arrangements using a variety of items and fresh or dried flowers and plant material. Learn to create arrangements for everyday or for those special occasions such as birthdays, Mother’s Day, and Christmas. Students looking for a job learn entry-level skills applicable to jobs within the floral industry. Bring garden clippers and a container for your arrangements. Students take their arrangements home. There is a $6.00 materials fee for each class or bring your own materials. Class is appropriate for all levels, beginner to advanced. Instructor has a First Associate Master Degree from Ohara School of Ikebana and is a floral designer at the Golden Door Spa in Escondido 4 wks

Level 1 class for beginners. This is a very quick and easy quilt in which colorful strips of fabric are sewn together then cut apart to look like many rectangles and re arranged to create an interesting overall quilt design. Students will learn to make this quilt using strip piecing, speed cutting and speed sewing techniques. It can be made using just 3 fabrics or level 2 students may want to use many flower fabrics for a watercolor look. Instruction book $5. 4 wks No class 9/20.

This is a level 2 class, some quilting experience recommended. The “Pineapple” quilt is a traditional quilt pattern that will be constructed using the fast and accurate techniques of speed cutting and foundation paper piecing (different from the “Paper Piecing Quilt” class). Foundation papers can be purchased in class from instructor (.50 per 3 blocks). Instruction book $5. 4 wks No class 11/1

This is a level 1 class, suitable for beginners. Students will learn to create this quick and easy quilt that is made from 2-1/2” wide strips of fabric which become squares, creating a “chain” of colors that crisscross over the quilt top. The quilt is constructed using speed cutting and speed sewing techniques. For Level 2 students, information will be available on “Double 9-Patch”. 4 wks. No class 1/24

This is a level 2 class, some quilting experience recommended. This quilt includes 15 different 5-Patch Basket blocks to choose from. It is sewn together using speed cutting and speedy tandem-sewing techniques. It can be made using just 2 fabrics for a “classic” quilt or from many fabrics for a scrappy look. 4 wks. No class 3/13
All quilting classes: Sewing machine is needed at home only. Materials cost depends on the size quilt you make. Classes include how to choose fabrics, sew the quilt top, add borders, baste, machine and hand quilt, finish the quilt edge, and sign and date the quilt.
