Over to you Your letters OUR FAVOURITE LETTER
This past September, my husband and I, along with another couple from Calgary, joined a group of hikers to challenge the Coast-to-Coast Walk (115 miles) organised by HF Holidays from Arnside to Saltburn by the Sea. A recent issue of BRITAIN (Aug/Sep ’10) had me re-living the hike across the Yorkshire Dales, with captivating pictures of now familiar places. We allowed ourselves three days on either end of the walk to sightsee in and around Glasgow and Chester. In Glasgow, all of us thoroughly enjoyed visiting the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum (the Glasgow Boys exhibit – fabulous!), walking the length of Sauchiehall Street, and taking in the atmosphere of bustling Buchanan Street.
Past articles featuring Culzean Castle and Robert Burns country had only whet my appetite for seeing these historic sites so, in fi nally getting to visit Culzean Castle and touring the beautiful Ayrshire countryside of the great poet, it felt as though I had already been there.
During our time in Chester we visited the magnifi cent cathedral, walked the wall, saw Roman artifacts and sampled a variety of spirits at a few of the notable pubs. Again your magazine provided us with a list of sights not to miss. Our accommodation at the Coach House Hotel was superior – but I am sorry I didn’t see the ghost!
Having been a subscriber to BRITAIN (In Britain) since the late 1990s, I have found it very useful for planning family vacations, from recommended accommodations to events and
route planning. The photography is brilliant and I always look forward to each issue to see what places I might add to my growing list for next time. Lori Arndt, Calgary, Alberta, Canada [More information: www.hfholidays.

Pleased with our prize At the beginning of August you let us know that we were the lucky prizewinners of the Bentley Hotel-Gatwick Express competition in BRITAIN magazine. A few days ago we came home again after a very pleasant stay at the Bentley Hotel. We will always remember
these days in London because of the friendly and helpful staff who contributed much to our
56 BRITAIN
experience. We were indeed very lucky to win this prize. Paula and Jan Walschot, by email. Visit

A right royal fan First of all, let me say how much I
enjoy your magazine and look forward to receiving each issue. I have loved Great Britain since I fi rst got interested in it and its Royal Family in 1980. Since then I have travelled there eight times

Legoland Living in Australia and leaving soon for a holiday in England, I have been an avid reader of your magazine for many months now. My daughter, her husband and my two grandchildren aged four and nearly six will be visiting at the same time, and we have been planning what to see and do while there in the winter. Your article on Windsor Castle
was just perfect as it is defi nitely one of the places we plan on visiting. However, imagine the disappointment for my two grandchildren after planning a trip to Legoland, as recommended in your Editor’s Choice, when we found out it is closed until April. Two very disappointed children,
I’m sorry to say. Other than that, though, it’s a wonderful magazine. Lin Jessop, Australia, by email. [Many attractions are seasonal – always check before you visit, Ed]
