FEBRUARY 2011 THE RIDER /43 Believe in the Magic The Jockey Club of Canada Announces 2010 Sovereign Award Finalists


The Jockey Club of Canada will host their 36th Annual Sovereign Awards Cere- mony to honour the Canadian Champions of 2010, on Friday, April 1, 2011, on the third floor of Woodbine Race Track in Toronto. Woodbine Entertainment Group will join in the celebration as they get ready to kick-off their 2011 Live Thor- oughbred meet on Saturday, April 2, a date which represents the start of thor- oughbred racing in Canada.

This elegant cocktail-attire celebra- tion will include a welcome back recep- tion, a buffet-style gourmet dinner, and magical entertainment along with the evening’s feature event, the presentation of the Sovereign Award Trophies to Cana- da’s Racing Champions of 2010 and Canada’s Horse of the Year.

The finalists and eventual winner were deter- mined using a computerized points system based on each voter’s first, second and third choice in each category.
