Joe is a retired employee of GMC, where he was employed for over 25 years. Now, in his spare time, he enjoys restoring old cars, and going to old car shows with his grandchildren. Also, as Past Presi- dent, he attends all of those meetings ,and as many OQHA meetings as pos- sible.
With so many accomplishments to his credit, Im sure you will all agree that Joe is most deserving of this induction into the OQHA Hall of Fame.
JOHN RONEY
Our next Hall of Fame inductee is Mr. John Roney, a man, who in his own words, has been around for a long time!

been the proud owner of winners at Picov Downs in 1972 and 1973. Joe has been an OQHA Board member since 1979, was 1st Vice President, and then went on to serve as OQHA President from 2003 to 2005.
He has been Chairman of many OQHA committees ,as well as serving as the Tri Chairman at Quarterama, where he was in charge of the Horse Palace, from 1989 to 1992.
The entire Roney family has been involved with OQHA activities for many years. Along with his involvement with our Association, John was a respected Educator and Administer, a loyal church member and active community resident. John and his wife, Dar, raised four chil- dren, and have had their share of tragedy over the years. This included the loss of a child, two major barn fires, in which seven of their horses perished, as well as the loss of all of their farm machinery.
However , in spite of those hard times, they went on to stand a stallion in 1980, and have run a successful breeding and boarding facility outside of London, for nearly 40 years. In addition to his horse involvement, John’s family bred and raised Limousin cattle, and was actively involved with that association as well. John was proud to have served as the OQHA President, from 1982 to 1984, , at a time when Quarterama

was at its peak, the association was financially sound, and the Breeders Futurity was growing well. John was responsible for a very well attended OQHA clinic , with Tommy Manion as the presenter. Also, during his Presidency , John was able to bring Bill Brewer from AQHA to be a key presenter in a workshop at the annual Convention. He credits all his success to those who worked before and with him at that time. John

During the 2011 AQHA Convention, March 4-7, Paul Bogart will be singing, and a tour offers a look at six horse farms.
Singer/musician and AQHA family mem- ber Paul Bogart is doing a post-awards banquet concert on Saturday, March 5, at the 2011 AQHA Convention in Grapevine, Texas. You’re going to need dancing and walking boots for the 2011 AQHA Convention. That’s because AQHA member and country music singer Paul Bogart will be providing the post- awards banquet dancing music on Saturday, March 5. The next day, AQHA is offering a day- long tour of six horse farms to convention atten- dees.

AQHA member and exhibitor Paul Bogart has his feet firmly planted in two worlds that he loves: American Quarter Horses and country music. And on Saturday, March 5, he’s bringing his music to the 2011 AQHA Convention in a post-awards banquet concert for all convention attendees.

John points out that he and his wife still ride regularly, and is proud to say that he has attended all but one of the OQHA/AQHA Rides , and just happens to be one of the oldest riders. John thanks all of those who continue to work on making OQHA so successful, and he treasures the many friendships that he and his fam- ily have made throughout their OQHA involvement.
